- Establish width of stair (length of tread) and mark center line of stair on header.
- Make vertical lines on header of 9" one each side of center line.
- Place monostringer top mounting plate between marks
- Position top steel carrier down one (1) riser from floor. (Allow for thickness of wood tread)
- Set lag bolts in top holes of mounting plate for temporary stability.
- Place level on steel carrier for horizontal leveling.
- Fasten monostringer to header and floor using 1/2" x 3" lag bolts
- Place all wood treads on steel carriers and align outer edge
- With pencil, mark location of holes in wood from underside of tread through steel carrier holes.
- Using 1/8" drill bit, drill holes in tread - maximum depth 1".
- Using 1/4" x 1.5" flat head, countersink wood screws provided, secure wood treads to steel carrier from underside.
